Yesterday we both had the day off so we took a little trip to Atlanta to see the Braves pl ay the Padres. We wanted to go to the aquarium and world of coke but we didn't think we would have enough time so we will do that another time. That last game we went to they lost so it was definitely much more fun seeing them win. It was so so hot even after the sun went down but thank goodness neither of us got burnt. It was a fun little date after a lot of work.
Today I went to the eye doctor and the regular doctor and then we went to the pool. I am pretty dark already but I laid out for a little over an hour and I got fried. The sun was just so intense. When I got home I took a nap because something about being in the sun and swimming just drains you. Since I slept this afternoon, I can't fall asleep so I am spending some time uploading pictures to Snapfish so I can hopefully get alot more work done on my scrapbook. I have never been much of a scrapbooker but I started to make Josh one for our one year when he said "It's not a scrapbook is it?" I don't know why I thought a boy would want a scrapbook. Duh. Thats a girly thing. Since I already had most of what I needed to make one I decided I would go ahead and make it for myself. I finished it and I was pretty impressed with myself. Once I finished, I decided to keep it going and do one for every year. I have gotten pretty behind because we were so busy with school. Now that it is summer I am determined to get year 2 done and start on year 3 before I get too far behind I can't catch up. I think it will be something neat to have. I am sure I won't keep doing it forever but it is something fun to do and look back at.

sauce
Last night I left my cat Oscar at Josh's to play with Josh's cat Hank. Oscar has been so sad since Lola went away so I figured he needed a slumber party with his cat friend. Apparently he woke Josh up meowing at 5:30 so he brought him back to my house and woke me up at 7:30. Since I was up I decided to go ahead and get started on my list for the day. I did everything on my list before 11:00. It was awesome! I felt like I could enjoy my whole day. I really enjoy cooking so I decided I would make a good dinner. I found a recipe for a homemade parmesan cream sauce so I decided I would try it. If you know anything about me, you know I LOVE chicken fettucine. I have had a good amount of trouble finding a sauce that I like so that I could make it at home. The ones in the jar are not good. I decided I was done making pasta with gross sauce so I needed to find a recipe. The first one I tried was a complete success and it was so so easy! Here it is!
Parmesan Cream Sauce
INGREDIENTS:
Parmesan Cream Sauce
INGREDIENTS:
| 2 | tablespoons butter |
| 2 | teaspoons flour |
| 3/4 | cup whipping cream |
| 1/2 | cup grated Parmesan cheese |
PREPARATION:
- Melt butter in large skillet over medium-high heat. Add flour; cook and stir with wire whisk 1 minute. Add cream, whisking vigorously until thick and smooth, about 2 minutes.
- Reduce heat to low and stir in Parmesan.
I cooked some chicken and some angel hair pasta and then just stirred it all together. We had some french bread, kool-aid, and even had sno-biz for dessert. It was divine. I love having time to do things I love to do. I can't wait to bake my tie-dye cake for Ashley's cookout!
music monday +
The past week or so both me and Josh have been working like crazy. Making money is our goal at the moment. On the 11th, I am going home to see Ash and Jared. We are having a cookout to celebrate them being home for a bit. Once I go home, I won't go back to work for 4 whole weeks! I am going to stay at home for a few days then me and Josh are heading back to Arizona with my family for a little vacation. When we get back, we have 2 weeks of rotations which is literally working 80 hours in 2 weeks for free. Since we won't be making any dollars for a month, we are trying to make as much as we can now. I have a few days off for right now so I have made myself a few "to-do" lists. I am a list maker. It keeps me sane. If I don't write it down, I will more than likely forget it so hopefully I have written everything down.
I have now come to accept the fact that Lola Cat Blackshear is gone. 3 weeks ago, my roommate left her outside on purpose because she was mad at us. Lola never came back. I have checked the humane society every weekend, I have called for her, I have left food, I have even stuck Oscar outside to meow for her but she just hasn't come home. When I found my other cat, Bella, dead on the side of the road I told my mom that I wish I wouldn't have found her. I wish I could have kept thinking she was out there, or had a new home, or something better than dead. Now that I have experienced this, I am glad I found Bella. I still wonder where Lola is so I don't think I have really let myself be super sad and then move on. Josh sent me a picture of her the other night and I cried for the first time about it. It just makes me so so angry that Saige put her out. I am trying to just live peacefully with her until she moves out but all I want to do is just sock her right in the mouth. I have had to pray for the Lord to zip my lips and control my anger. I am going to the humane society to look for her for the last time tomorrow. If she isn't there then I am giving up. I really miss her.

Brett Dennen is one of my new favorite artists. Josh discovered him thanks to Pandora. I like almost all of his songs that I have heard so far. His new album "Loverboy" just came out. Go get it here!!

God with us
I've been really stressed out the past week. I have had to make a decision that has not been easy. It probably won't end up well for me but I know I did the right thing. Through it all I've had to lean on Christ, Josh, my friends and my family. I am so grateful that we serve a living breathing God who can give us peace and lead us in the right direction. He isn't a statue. He can't be simplified into a calculation (seeing as how the "rapture" didn't happen). He is very much alive and at work in our lives and that is one of the many many reasons I love Him. I'm amazed that he truly is God with us.
We went to the movies again I Friday night and saw the new Pirates movie. It was really good. Josh's mom loves all of those movies. I haven't seen the last couple of them but the new one is really good. Saturday we went to the pool for a while and I started reading Something Blue. I got about 80 pages in at the pool and I didn't want to stop so I went home and just kept reading it. I finished the whole thing yesterday. I did not expect what happens. I ordered Baby Proof and Love the One You're With so maybe I'll read those next. I have to get a little scrapbooking done. I got pretty behind during school but I have everything so I just need to put it all together. I'll post some of my favorite pages when I get done. Hope you all enjoy the rest of your weekend!

This song is a good one. Joshua agrees.
Rascal Flatts -- Nothing Like This
There’s nothing in my life I’d say I regret
But there’s something in your eyes
that makes me forget the times that I believed
That love was good as love could be
I had it all but I was wrong
Thought I’d been touched
Thought I’d been kissed
Thought I’d been loved
But it was nothing like this
You can’t describe the sea unless you’ve been there before
It’s just a mystery until you’re standing on the shore
And moved by every wave
Taking your breath away
Like you do to me
Thought I’d been touched
Thought I’d been kissed
Thought I’d been loved
But it was nothing like this
It’s like another life
Like I hadn’t felt a thing
Until you
Thought I’d been touched
Thought I’d been kissed
Thought I’d been loved
But it was nothing, nothing like this
It was nothing like this
Nothing like, nothing like this

in a month
It has been almost a full month since I last wrote anything. That seems a little ridiculous but the last month has been quite ridiculous. We are finally DONE with our first year of pharmacy school! I cannot believe that it has already been a whole year! I finished both semesters with all As and Bs and so did Joshua. The Lord is so so good and it is a blessing to get to experience Him working in our lives and blessing our (many many) hours of torture studying. Now that we are done I almost don't know what to do with myself. I still feel like there is something I need to be studying. That feeling will go away soon and I can just relax and enjoy it. This is my first summer break in 4 years. I took summer classes every summer in undergrad so I have basically forgotten what summer break actually is. I still have to work so I am in Auburn but it has already been more fun than I have had in a while. I've gone to the movies TWICE in one week, I've hung out with Lauren Huff when she came to town, I've gone home to see my family and seen my friends a little while I was there, I have had Taco Dale (josh's version of taco night), I have been able to clean my room and do my laundry...and I have only been done for less than a week! Words cannot even begin to express how absolutely excited I am to have 3 months of nothing. I was to the point where I was getting extremely burned out on school. The Lord knew I needed this break and I am going to enjoy every single minute of it. My plans for the next few weeks are to work on my scrapbooks and read Something Blue. I went to see something Borrowed and loved it so now I can start reading the book Something Blue while I wait for that movie.
Speaking of movies, I went to see Water for Elephants and it was so so great. I read the book over spring break and couldn't wait to see the movie. The movie was actually really really close to the book. Most movies change a few things enough that the book readers notice. This one was pretty much right on. So whether you have read the book or just want to watch the movie, I recommend both. Josh, however, liked Something Borrowed better.
