crafty

A few weeks ago I talked about how I had a craft day. I completely forgot to ever talk about my crafts. I have an app called CraftGawker and there are all kinds of DIY things. It has new stuff every single day and way more crafts than I can even look through. You can go through and add things you like as favorites so you have all the things you like in one place. I started favorite-ing things and one day I decided I was going to do a few of them. I set off to Hobby Lobby and the thrift store to get my supplies. I didn't spend a ton of money and made 4 crafts! The first thing I made was dryer balls. People used to throw a tennis ball in the dryer instead of dryer sheets but that makes a ton of noise so these babies are the same idea but much quieter. I don't have a picture of my finished product but I have a couple of in between ones.

The next thing I made was a leather bow cuff bracelet. I used more of a pleather because the leather they had at hobby lobby was thick and not cute at all so I went with the next best thing. Here is how mine turned out

The next thing was a necklace made out of an XXL mens t-shirt! I used a purple one from target and only used 2 of the braids instead of 3. I used the leftover to make a bracelet. I love it!

The last thing I made was an apron. I saw a picture in a magazine of this apron made from mens button up shirts. I googled and found nothing on how to actually do it. I bought 4 shirts and 2 ties just in case I messed up the first one I wouldn't have to get back out. I made one like the magazine and the top was way too narrow and the bottom too wide. It looked so strange so on take 2 I decided to improvise. I designed this one all on my own. No pattern. No how-to. Just me, my sewing machine, and trial and error. In the end I LOVE it! The neck strap even buttons and unbuttons so it is adjustable. I am pretty dang proud of it.

So my craft day was a success. I can't wait to have more before I get back to studying every single day. Let me know if you make any of these and I highly recommend CraftGawker!

you make me melt like a popsicle on the fourf of july

I am as red as a tomato. We went to the beach for the weekend since we were off on Monday. I was so good to relax and lay on the beach. I came back a wonderful shade of red. Since I didn't get home until about 10 last night I decided to wait until today to make my 4th of July cake. I looked up a few different cute ones. One even had a little firecracker made out of pop rocks! Maybe I will get to that one next year. This year I made the kind that when you cut into it the cake looks like the flag. I haven't cut into mine yet so a google picture will have to do for right now.

I did mine a little different than most of the recipes say. The recipe said to cook one blue cake and one red/white cake. Then you cut the middle out of them both and just swap them so that the red and white middle is in the blue outside. I just poured my red batter in the center and then the blue around the edge so I wouldn't have to make such a mess (or waste a ton of cake). I topped it off with my almond buttercream and some red white and blue sprinkles. I will post some pictures of my actual cake after I take it to my rotations tomorrow (only 3 days left...hooray!)

I hope everyone had a safe and wonderful 4th!

back and hacked

If you couldn't tell by that last post...Joshua hacked me. He always does. Whether it is my facebook, twitter, blog, email...whatever. If I do not sign out I will have something posted that is not from me. I always forget to sign out because I never do when I am on my computer so it isn't habit. I don't have anything to hide so I guess I am just not too worried about it. I guess I should just be grateful that he has always said nice things and not things like "Rebecca just took a huge poop in her pants" like other people would.

The Grand Canyon was amazing. We did some hiking, some swimming, some sliding (getting scrapes all over) at Slide Rock and Josh took a million pictures. The entire week we just got to see and enjoy God's creation. It was so much fun. It was awesome for Josh to feel like a part of the fam. He even has inside jokes with my brothers now. We got back from Arizona on Friday night late and then we both came back to Auburn yesterday. When I got home one of my roommates had already moved out (this is the one who has been a little bit of a problem so I was pumped!) Joshua left today to go to Grand Bay for his rotations so I won't see him until Friday night. We are going to the beach this weekend with a few more people to celebrate the 4th of July since Josh and Vince will already be pretty much there. After that I won't see him for another week. I will be doing my rotations too but I will be here in Auburn. I will be at Medical Arts Pharmacy in Opelika. I am excited to go and do things that I don't normally get to do. I think it will be a good thing that I already know how to do the basic stuff like reading a prescription and all kinds of insurance things because I will be able to skip right past all of that and do things out of the ordinary like compounding. I am a little nervous because I don't know anyone there but I can talk to a brick wall so I will be fine.

My Best Boyfriend

So I know I don't ever do this but I wanted to take a few minutes today to tell you how wonderful of a boyfriend I have! Josh has been the perfect match for me ever since we first started dating and I wake up everyday so thankful that I have found a guy like him. We just got back from the Grand Canyon where he took so many good pictures that are going to get published on pamphlets one day. He also got to know my brothers so much that they like him better than me now! Josh is also better at thumb war as we found out on this trip. He beat me every time we played. Come to find out, one of the reasons I like him so much is because he is funnier than me too! I really found out on this trip that he's hilarious and I'm not! Sorry I keep ranting about how awesome he is, but its true! And maybe next time, I'll sign out of blogger on his computer!

hello clay

I am writing this from my iPhone because i am at home and my parents computer is horribly slow. I am home in Clay until Friday and then me, Josh, and my family are flying out to Arizona for a week. Were going to the Grand Canyon and some other places. This week at home has been so wonderful. Saturday night we went to Ashleys house because her and Jared were in town! It was so great to see them both. I miss my friends when they are in Kansas. Sunday night I went to Josh's house and had dinner and ice cream with his family. His niece and nephew were there too so of course I played dress up, put on makeup, and played sleeping beauty. Josh had to be the prince and kiss us both on the cheek :) Monday me and my brothers went bowling and to dinner with my Memaw and grandpaw. I of course was awful. I lost both games we played. Today, me and Josh had to go to Bessemer for a CVS training. It was completely boring but I can be bored for a few hours and get paid for it. We met his dad for lunch at Bob Sykes (delish). Tomorrow I'm taking Josh to his eye doctor appointment and then I'm taking my brothers to their first orthodontist appointment! I think Brian needs braces but I think Stephen doesn't. We will see if I am right. Thursday I am going to lunch and other fun things with granny and poppa. I hope you're all enjoying your week like I am enjoying mine!

music monday

I had a craft day today(which I will talk about later). While I was at the thrift store getting button up shirts I heard this song and I sang it to myself the whole time I was there. It is such a powerful song. It just talks about who Christ is and there is nothing better than that.

Your Great Name --Natalie Grant

Lost are saved; find their way; at the sound of your great name
All condemned; feel no shame, at the sound of your great name
Every fear; has no place; at the sound of your great name
The enemy; he has to leave; at the sound of your great name

Jesus, Worthy is the Lamb that was slain for us, Son of God and Man
You are high and lifted up; that all the world will praise your great name

All the weak; find their strength; at the sound of your great name
Hungry souls; receive grace; at the sound of your great name
The fatherless; they find their rest; at the sound of your great name
Sick are healed; and the dead are raised; at the sound of your great name

Jesus, Worthy is the Lamb that was slain for us, Son of God and Man
You are high and lifted up; that all the world will praise your great name

Redeemer, My Healer, Almighty
My savior, Defender, You are My King

Jesus, Worthy is the Lamb that was slain for us, Son of God and Man
You are high and lifted up; that all the world will praise your great name

not sleepy

Yesterday we both had the day off so we took a little trip to Atlanta to see the Braves pl ay the Padres. We wanted to go to the aquarium and world of coke but we didn't think we would have enough time so we will do that another time. That last game we went to they lost so it was definitely much more fun seeing them win. It was so so hot even after the sun went down but thank goodness neither of us got burnt. It was a fun little date after a lot of work.

Today I went to the eye doctor and the regular doctor and then we went to the pool. I am pretty dark already but I laid out for a little over an hour and I got fried. The sun was just so intense. When I got home I took a nap because something about being in the sun and swimming just drains you. Since I slept this afternoon, I can't fall asleep so I am spending some time uploading pictures to Snapfish so I can hopefully get alot more work done on my scrapbook. I have never been much of a scrapbooker but I started to make Josh one for our one year when he said "It's not a scrapbook is it?" I don't know why I thought a boy would want a scrapbook. Duh. Thats a girly thing. Since I already had most of what I needed to make one I decided I would go ahead and make it for myself. I finished it and I was pretty impressed with myself. Once I finished, I decided to keep it going and do one for every year. I have gotten pretty behind because we were so busy with school. Now that it is summer I am determined to get year 2 done and start on year 3 before I get too far behind I can't catch up. I think it will be something neat to have. I am sure I won't keep doing it forever but it is something fun to do and look back at.
