anniversary

"I don't pretend to know what love is for everyone, but I can tell you what it is for me; love is knowing all about someone, and still wanting to be with them more than any other person, love is trusting them enough to tell them everything about yourself, including the things you might be ashamed of, love is feeling comfortable and safe with someone, but still getting weak knees when they walk into a room and smile at you.”

On February 24th 2009 Joshua came to my house still in his shirt and tie, told me to come outside, and asked me to be his girlfriend. 2 years later I couldn't be happier. I am incredibly blessed. I am so glad he is still in school with me so he doesn't think I am crazy. I am so proud of him. Everything from his good grades to his insane workouts impresses me. I love sitting next to him in church. I love sitting next to him in class. I love sitting next to him doing nothing at all. I love that my dad talks to him more than he talks to me because they are best friends. I love how he tells me he loves me all the time even when it is random. I love that he gets along with my friends. I love that he loves Auburn. I love that he gets me little prizes from the store. I think he is the funniest person I know. I am constantly laughing. I could go on and on about how awesome he is. I don't show him a lot of blog lovin but he doesn't read my blog a ton :) Josh is taking me to Atlanta on Friday night to go to Fogo de Chao. It is a Brazilian churrascaria. I told Josh about the one we went to in Brazil and he has been wanting to go ever since. I am excited! He is also going to make a stop by Ikea to get my bookshelf that I have been eyeing for months now! He even bought a new outfit to wear. How stinkin great is he?!

Happy 2 year anniversary Joshua Dale. I love you.

roll toomers roll

Somebodys poisoned the waterhole! Well not exactly but they did poison Toomers. We got the email today that Al from Dadeville poisoned the trees with about 60 times the lethal dose of the stuff. The trees are more than likely going to die. Everyone went out tonight and rolled it. And today I have never been more proud to be an Auburn fan. I have also never been more glad that I am not a bama fan. Taping a jersey to a statue is harmless fun. It is what the rivalry is about for Auburn fans. We enjoy arguing about football but at the end of the day, we will be Auburn fans until we die even if we lose every game to bama. Killing trees and putting and entire block of trees is a)illegal and b)not harmless fun. Al took it about 100 steps too far. If I killed Bear Bryant myself then sure kill my tree. However, tape that took 2 seconds to undo and killing trees that were over 130 years old are not the same thing. At Toomer's people have their first kiss, get engaged, and sing the fight song while high fiving friends and strangers. My grandparents brought my parents to Toomer's and my parents brought me and taught me about one of Auburn most cherished traditions. I will never be able to have that now thanks to one idiot. So THANKS Al from Dadeville. I hope you say roll tide to your boyfriends in jail.

Auburn is much more than a football game. It is much more than winning and losing. It is a spirit. It is an attitude. It is a way of looking at life and at one another. It is, almost, a way of living. Unless you have experienced it, you will never know what it is; you will never understand it. Once you have experienced it, you will never be the same. War Eagle. I believe in Auburn and love it. Roll Toomers Roll.

oth

You know how everyone has that show that they watch every single week? You know the one show you will watch every single episode until they cancel the series and then you watch the past seasons because you have them all on dvd? Well that sow for me is One Tree Hill. I love it! I know alot of people have given up on it but I am still in. Like Brittany on Glee said "I don't wanna die yet...at least not until One Tree Hill gets cancelled." I miss Lucas and Peyton of course but I still think it is a great show. It is the one show I make sure is DVR-ed and that I don't miss an episode of. I think it is even sweeter that Sophia Bush is actually dating Austin Nichols (Julian) in real life. She talked about it on Chelsea Lately. Everybody watch OTH!

sneaky

I wrote a post earlier today about not doing anything for valentines day. I was completely cool with that. I went to the school and studied for a while. Josh came up there after I got there and studied some too. We rode home and I hugged him goodbye and went inside to cook some dinner. I went in my room and did some things then went to start cooking. I went back into my room and realized that sneaky Joshua had set me up a little valentines surprise. He went to my house before he came to the school and set it all up. He didn't even say a word! I was totally shocked because I wasn't expecting anything. He got me flowers, a sweet card, and some little chocolates. I was so surprised and it was so special. It turned just another Monday into Valentine's day. He is so great. I couldn't ask for a better valentine. Thanks deary.

v-day

HAPPY VALENTINES DAY!
I hope you all have a wonderful lovey dovey day.

I started off my morning with a transit ride with Cam Newton himself. I don't really understand why he is still going to class since he is going pro and signing million dollar deals with Under Armour. I know I sure wouldn't be in class if I had millions coming my way.

I am sitting at the school trying to find any excuse not to study. Clearly since I am writing a blog post I have found at least one excuse. I know better than to bring my computer to study. I have a project to do online but my computer isn't connecting to the website. You need permission to view it and I am supossed to have that but it still won't work. Our school has an IT department who will fix our computer problems for free! Isn't that awesome?!? So to get rid of the temptation and fix my problem, my computer will be in IT today.

crime shows

I feel like I have been studying for weeks straight for our test we have on Wednesday. I study all day and come home and turn on the tv and just sit. At night, all there is to watch are crime shows. Why is that? When it is dark and scary at night I would rather see some america's funniest home videos instead of a show that makes me think someone is about to come in and kill me. It freaks me out every night but I just can't stop watching. If you see the first 5 minutes, you have to keep watching to find out who killed the person! I love all the shows though. I love NCIS, CSI (all of them), Cold Case, Law and Order (all of them). I think they are really interesting. But I also need to go to sleep so watching them right before bed is a bad idea. I will hear a noise and start weaving this crazy crime show story in my head about what it could be and then I think "oh my goodness...what if that is what that noise is?!?"  Hopefully after Wednesday I can get back on some sort of regular schedule and watch crime shows during daylight.

Since I have been studying so much, I completely forgot tomorrow was Valentine's day. Me and Josh haven't really celebrated it in the past 2 years. Two years ago when we were still just dating we had a fun Valentine's night. Last year, we had a Mammalian test the day after. This year we have our DAD test 2 days after. I don't really care. We always do something for our anniversary (the 24th) so it's not a big deal. He is still my Valentine even if we don't go to a retaurant. Maybe once we graduate and can live normal, non-studying, non-stressful lives we can celebrate everything big time.

red velvet

My mother has always loved red velvet cake. My great grandmother used to make them. My grandmother gets her one every year for her birthday. Everyone knows that red velvet is my mom's cake. Josh is also a huge red velvet cake fan. It is his favorite too. My graduation was on Josh's birthday this past August so I made him a homemade red velvet cake so he didn't feel like I completely took his day. I had never made a red velvet cake much less one from scratch so I was worried. Red velvet is not my favorite and I really don't like cream cheese icing so I couldn't taste it to see if it was ok. I found a recipe for the cake with a ton of good reviews. I experimented and made my own icing because my mom likes sweet icing with a hint of cream cheese instead of just pure cream cheeses icing. I bought all of the ingredients, made the cake, and waited for everyone to try it to see if it was acceptable. IT WAS GREAT! Half of the cake got eaten that day and I sent the other half home with my mom. My dad has been asking for the recipe so I figured I would share it with all of you!

Ingredients

4 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
1 ounce red food coloring
1 cup buttermilk
1 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup oil
2 cups white sugar
2 eggs
2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour, sifted
1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
1 tablespoon white vinegar

Icing
2 lb bag of powdered sugar
4 sticks/2 cups salted butter
1 8 oz tub of cream cheese.

Directions
1. Grease two 9 inch round pans. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F . In a small bowl, make a paste of cocoa and food coloring. Set aside.

2. Combine the buttermilk, salt and vanilla. Set aside. In a large bowl, cream together the oil and 2 cups sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the cocoa mixture. Beat in the buttermilk mixture alternately with the flour, mixing just until incorporated. Stir together baking soda and vinegar, then gently fold into the cake batter.

3. Pour batter into prepared pans. Bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes (start checking the cake about 5 minutes before), or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean. Allow to cool completely before frosting.

4. To Make Icing: Mix together the sugar, butter and ¾ of the cream cheese. You can add more cream cheese to your taste.

freebies

I just downloaded 11411 by Sister Hazel fo free! I just happened to be on amazon and saw the whole album was a free download so of course I downloaded it. Go here to download it yourself! They opened for Goo Goo Dolls when they were in Auburn and they mentioned this release. Hope you enjoy it!

I also downloaded Valentine's Day by Matt White and a whole Benjy Davis Project album. I was a good day for free music. Amazon rocks. My ipod is smiling.

The best thing I downloaded (not free) was The Civil Wars new album called Barton Hollow. Seriously get it right now. It is GREAT!

honeybun cake

Yesterday I was studying and I thought to myself "Oh my gracious I am not ready for this test and it is on Wednesday!" then I realized...duh...my test isn't until NEXT Wednesday. That is a true sign that you have been studying too much so today I gave myself a break. I skipped all of my classes (partly because I overslept), me and Josh went to lunch, I made a honeybun cake for my PPE party tomorrow, I made rice krispies treats for my roomies, and watched all of my shows. It was awesome and so necessary. Sometimes you just need a break even though you probably should study every minute you can. I have been studying pretty much every day for the past week or so. I just couldn't look at another drug, structure, or disease state today. I deserved it.

Here is the recipe for Honeybun cake (it is so so yummy)

1 box yellow cake mix
2/3 cup oil
4 eggs
8oz sour cream
1 cup brown sugar
2 tsp ground cinnamon
1 cup powdered sugar
1 tsp vanilla
1 tbsp milk

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease a 9x13 pan. In a large bowl, combine dry cake mix, oil, eggs, and sour cream with a mixer. Spread 1/2 the batter in the pan. In another small bowl, stir together brown sugar and cinnamon. Sprinkle over the batter in the pan. Carefully spread the last 1/2 of the batter into the pan. Bake 44-48 minutes or until deep golden brown. In another small bowl, stir milk, powdered sugar, and vanilla until thin enough to spread. Prick the surface of the hot cake with a toothpick and spread the mixture on top.

Happy baking :)

scrambled

So if you know me at all (or can see by my bare blog posts) I am TERRIBLE at uploading pictures from my camera. It has been almost a month since the National Championship and my pictures have yet to be seen. Tonight was one of the rare nights that I actually uploaded pictures so the following pictures probably have absolutely nothing to do with one another. Because my life is a little hectic at the moment, it is going to be a little scrambled.

I posted here about chopping my hair off. Here is a before and after!

I posted a long time ago about what I called "womanizing" my room. I still had a little cute twin bed and pink and black and polka dotted everything. I decided to switch it up a little bit. I had all black and white furniture so that limited me a little bit but I finally decided on Orbit from by DesignStudio. It is black white yellow and gray. Here are a few pictures of the makeover.
My new big girl bed. I went to the thrift store to see what I could make cute and I found that lamp. It is the EXACT same yellow as my comforter which is a weird color. It was meant to come home with me. I made the Hope Dream Love frames above the bed.

Another view. I made the ribbon frame that is on the wall too. There is a bookshelf turned on its side at the foot of my bed. I can fit my binders in it if it is sideways (dumb).

This is where the magic happens. See that huge expensive piece of paper? I am working on another one and have that lab coat to prove it. It seems like a lot packed into that one space but I love it. I especially love the framed cork board and dry erase board.

This is the little space on top of my bookshelf. I got the candle holders at the thrift store and painted the black one. I really love the white flower candle holder from...where else...the thrift store. The thing in the frame is a poem my old roommate Emma wrote and gave us for Christmas. It still warms my heart.

This is my finished armoire (thrift store again) and the stool I pulled off a curb, repainted, and recovered. I got the 2 yellow picture frames from target since they were the same color as my bedding. Please excuse the kitten on top. He isn't part of the decor :)

My tv stand and the little basket where I put my shoes that I wear all the time. That vase is filled with clear stones and buttons. I have had that since freshman year and just changed out the colors. The little yellow basket has my dvds in it. I got it from the thrift store and it used to be purple.

The last few of pictures are my favorites from Arizona.
Me and Joshua on his first flight ever!

Awesome signs at the pep rally

War Eagle!
